Working Groups

Working Groups are set up within the ECR NoN to work on specific initiatives (e.g. Future Earth).

Future Earth Working Group

Picture
The aim of the working group is to engage ECR’s in Future Earth and to ensure that issues and opinions of ECR’s are addressed throughout the work of Future Earth. Specifically the working group aims to improve the opportunities for any individual ECR to engage with Future Earth and other ECR’s with interest in Future Earth, such as through the Future Earth Open Network and Future Earth Knowledge-Action Networks etc. The working group aims to be formally recognized by Future Earth as representing a diversity of ECR networks and aims for ECR’s to be consulted and included in central decision making bodies and processes of Future Earth, such as their Engagement and Science Committees.
Terms of Reference
The following terms of reference (TOR) outline the aim, tasks and structure of a Future Earth working group (working group) within the Early Career Researchers (ECR) Network of Networks.

1. Aim / Objective / Mission
  1. The aim of the working group is to engage ECR’s in Future Earth and to ensure that issues and opinions of ECR’s are addressed throughout the work of Future Earth.

  1. To maintain communication with Future Earth and represent the decisions of the NoN in Future Earth.
  2. To inspire and develop early-career relevant activities with Future Earth, including an open early career community.
  3. To identify ECR liaisons to Future Earth initiatives, including, but not limited to, core projects (where appropriate), Knowledge-Action Networks, and the Future Earth Open Network.
  4. To facilitate knowledge exchange and rapid dissemination of information between Future Earth and the ECR networks represented by NoN. This includes e.g. information about projects, grants and conferences.

3. Structure

  1. The working group consists of members of the NoN interested in the topic of the working group (see Terms of Reference of the NoN for structure and diversity statement of the NoN).

  8. The co-chairs and any non ad-hoc delegate positions make up the governing body of the working group.
  9. Co-chairs liaise between the working group and the NoN and informs the NoN about activities of the working group. This includes participation in open council meetings etc.
